Job Title: Metrology Researcher Physicist
Micromatter Technologies Inc is located at unit Location: Unit 1- 8333 130th Street, Surrey, BC, V3W7X4 is looking for one Full time Permanent Metrology Researcher Physicist at their above location.
The Metrology Researcher Physicist who will become an integral part of the research and development team of Micromatter Technologies Inc., would focus on the development and refinement of new measurement techniques, systems and standards using XRF and/or ICP based technologies. This role involves performing original research to advance the state-of-the-art in measurement science for the accurate determination of elemental compositions as well as their quantification with specific applications in environmental, material and, biomedical sciences.
The candidate should have research experience and expertise with the x-ray spectroscopy-based systems. Key responsibilities:
• Developing quantity systems, units of measurement, and new measurement metrics and standards to ensure consistency and NIST traceability.
• Evaluating calibration systems and procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement instruments.
• Design and fabrication of new certified reference standards for XRF techniques with applicability in environmental and biomedical sciences, and fuel cell technology.
• Develop and integrate new processes to fabricate thin metal foils using physical methods such as thermal vapor depositions and magnetron sputtering for XRF analysis.
• Integrating the technological advancements in XRF analytical methods into ongoing investigations.
• Implementing advanced signal processing techniques, analyzing data, and interpreting results to assess measurement uncertainty and improve overall performance of our laboratories.
• Collaboration across disciplines for the analysis of intricate data sets to derive insights guiding product refinement and innovation.
• Working with engineers, quality control personnel, and other scientists, and presenting research findings at internal meetings, and scientific conferences.
• Supervision of technicians, overseeing testing, calibration, standardization and data analysis for electronics-based data acquisition setups.
• Lead the installation, testing, and operation of complex electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic systems, troubleshoot anomalies systematically.
• Compile and perform trend analysis of data as well as presenting data and results to support product development decisions.
Education and Key Skills:
The candidate should have;
• A PhD degree in the field of x-ray spectroscopy and associated research areas.
• At least 2 year of post-PhD research experience in the field of calibration and measurement sciences.
• A strong foundation in mathematics, physics and XRF instrumentation and technology.
• To demonstrate scientific excellence in x-ray analytical skills.
• An attention to the detail.
• Familiarity with design and simulation tools.
