Due to continued business growth and increasing customer demand, we are seeking a skilled Power System and Energy Engineer to join our expanding team.
Position Summary
The Power System and Energy Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, optimization, and implementation of electrical power systems. The role involves applying engineering principles, mathematical modeling, and advanced software tools to solve challenges in power generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization.
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical and electronic circuits, components, systems, and equipment
Develop design specifications based on product requirements
Perform hardware development, product testing, qualification, and certification
Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, performance analysis)
Design and implement advanced architectures such as microgrids and smart grids
Evaluate and optimize system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Lead project planning activities and develop task schedules
Install, operate, maintain, and repair static and rotary Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)
Overhaul electrical generation systems and related equipment
Produce detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in a similar engineering role
Strong knowledge of power systems, industrial automation, and drive systems
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s degree considered an asset)
Knowledge of applicable standards such as UL, CSA, CE, IEC 62477-1, UL/IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61800-3
Familiarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, IEC 61800-5-2)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage details and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Strong customer service orientation
