Responsibilities
Tasks
Supervise Daily Farm Operations
Oversee all daily activities including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, packaging, and cleaning.
Manage Farm Workers
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure employees are working efficiently and safely.
Ensure Production Targets Are Met
Monitor output levels and ensure crop production meets scheduled targets and quality standards.
Train Employees
Provide training on farm procedures, sanitation, biosecurity, equipment use, and safety protocols.
Enforce Sanitation and Biosecurity Protocols
Ensure strict compliance with cleanliness, hygiene, and contamination prevention standards.
Monitor Crop Health
Inspect plants daily for signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies and take corrective action.
Oversee Hydroponic Systems
Ensure proper operation of irrigation systems, pumps, lighting, and environmental controls.
Coordinate Harvest and Packaging
Ensure crops are harvested on time, handled properly, and packaged according to standards.
Maintain Equipment and Report Issues
Ensure equipment is used properly and report or coordinate repairs when necessary.
Maintain Inventory Levels
Track and manage inventory of seeds, nutrients, packaging materials, and supplies.
Prepare Work Schedules
Organize staff schedules to ensure proper coverage for all farm operations.
Ensure Workplace Safety Compliance
Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety regulations.
Report to Management
Provide regular updates on production, staff performance, issues, and operational needs.
Handle Employee Issues
Address attendance, performance, or conduct issues and apply discipline where necessary.
Maintain Organized Work Environment
Ensure all areas of the farm remain clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
