Position Summary
The Farm Labourer performs general poultry farm and hatchery duties supporting the handling, care, and movement of poultry. Depending on operational requirements, employees may work in hatchery facilities or poultry barns.
The position involves physically demanding and repetitive work, including handling live poultry, pulling chicks from hatchers, transferring eggs, cleaning and disinfecting facilities and equipment, operating farm and hatchery equipment, and catching and loading poultry.
Employees are required to follow established animal welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, health and safety, and operational procedures at all times.
Main Duties
Perform production duties in the hatchery, including pulling newly hatched chicks from hatchers.
Clean and disinfect buildings, hatchers, incubators, equipment, and work areas according to established cleaning and disinfection protocols.
Prepare and mix vaccines according to established vaccine mixing procedures.
Catch and remove live chickens from assigned poultry barns and safely place birds into crates for transportation.
Handle poultry carefully to minimize stress and prevent injury to the birds.
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment used in poultry and hatchery operations.
Follow company biosecurity, sanitation, health and safety, and operational procedures.
Comply with applicable government regulations and company policies.
Follow established animal welfare standards when handling and working around poultry.
Perform other general poultry farm and hatchery duties as required.
Salary $20.18
Hours: 40+ Hours per week

Education:
No formal education required.
Experience:
Previous farm, poultry, livestock, or hatchery experience is an asset but is not required. Training will be provided on-site.

Additional Requirements
Employees may be assigned or rotated between poultry barns, hatchery operations, poultry catching, egg handling, chick handling, cleaning and disinfection, and other general farm duties based on operational requirements, training, and demonstrated competency.
Employees must be able to safely perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for prolonged periods and comply with all biosecurity, occupational health and safety, animal welfare, sanitation, and company requirements.
Employees must report to work fit for duty and able to safely perform the physical and operational requirements of the position.
